Dec 05, 2011 · hdmi is the same as using a dvi and audio cable, hdmi is one slot, dvi/audio is 2 if your monitor has both you can use both too, like i did with mine, xbox to hdmi, pc to dvi (and headphones right into the soundcard as i hate speakers) but for actual quality, there's no difference

My EVGA 970 has 2 DVI and 1 DisplayPort output, all of which are used, the latter with a DP to DVI adapter. My center monitor is 144hz so is by necessity using a DVI slot directly. For a long time, including for a few days after the new build, my BIOS and splash screen would appear on my middle monitor as I prefer.
