I have got a new DVI to HDMI cable and there is no sound, I am aware that DVI does not support audio, but I have an audio Jack in the PC/DVI slot in the back of my monitor/TV and going from that to the audio Jack in my computor, this worked fine before I got this cable and I had a standard VGA cable in my computor, why won't it work now? Dec 05, 2011 · hdmi is the same as using a dvi and audio cable, hdmi is one slot, dvi/audio is 2 if your monitor has both you can use both too, like i did with mine, xbox to hdmi, pc to dvi (and headphones right into the soundcard as i hate speakers) but for actual quality, there's no difference

My EVGA 970 has 2 DVI and 1 DisplayPort output, all of which are used, the latter with a DP to DVI adapter. My center monitor is 144hz so is by necessity using a DVI slot directly. For a long time, including for a few days after the new build, my BIOS and splash screen would appear on my middle monitor as I prefer.
